LAYTON/FREMONT/WEBER/VIEWMONT MEET
The Lady Titans finished third while the Boys captured first in the five-way meet held at Weber High. The races were run over the hilly, tough, 3.1 mile course in 90 degree weather. There were some very good performances in spite of the conditions.
In the girls team action, Fremont finished first with 33 points. Weber was second with 40 while Syracuse had 50. Viewmont and Layton were far behind. Sharlie Dimick took the lead about a mile into the race and never looked back. Her winning time was 20:16. Lindsey McFarland (9th, 22:18), Daylyn Johnston (11th, 23:11), Mikelann Wilcox (14th, 23:52) and Cheyna Field (15th, 23:53) ran strong races over the tough course. Dolly Johanson (20th, 25:04) and Kayla Bryrum (24th, 26:19) completed the top seven.
The Boys won the meet with 30 points. Weber was right behind with 35 and Fremont had 65. Layton and Viewmont trailed the field. Jaxon Hansen continued to run great as he finished 2nd in 17:10. Brandon Yardley was close behind in 3rd running 17:33. Preston Williams (5th, 17:52), Jeff Michel (7th, 18:03) and Frank Owens (13th, 18:22) secured the win. Tom Hill (15th, 18:30) and Spencer Griffin (20th, 19:03) rounded out the varsity squad.
Overall, it was a good meet. With just a couple weeks left in the season, it’s good to see some of the newer Titans have learned to race and compete.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Selected as the Athletes of the Week for the Girls were Kayla Byrum and Erin Kibler. Both have been battling injuries most of the season and have continued to work hard without missing any practices. Selected for the Boys were Thomas Lakey and Cody Kelley. They have both worked very hard without missing a practice, including the summer workouts.
