Update - September 27

Titan XC Update - September 27, 2010

NORTHRIDGE/ROY/WEBER/VIEWMONT MEET
The Lady Titans ran very well at the five-way meet held Wednesday at Syracuse. Viewmont easily won with 33 points. Weber followed with 50, we had 65, Roy 68 and Northridge did not have a full team. The results would have n somewhat different if we would have had Taylee Hamblin. She is out with an injury- we hope to have her back by Region.
Sharlie Dimick ran a strong race to capture the individual title. Her time was 19:55 over the very challenging 3-mile course. Lindsey McFarland was 10th in 21:44. Courtney Hamilton ran her first race finishing 16th in 23:06. Daylyn Johnston (18th, 23:13), and Cheyna Field (20th, 23:36) rounded out the scoring. Mikelann Wilcox (23rd, 23:48) and Dolly Johanson (27th, 24:57) completed our top seven.
The Titans captured the boys title with 45 points. Weber (56), Viewmont (59), Northridge (91) and Roy (123) were the other schools competing. Individually, Jaxon Hansen ran an aggressive race to finish 2nd in 16:47. Brandon Yardley (7th, 17:19), Jeff Michel (9th, 17:20) and Preston Williams (10th, 17:27) were grouped right behind Jaxon. Dylan Rossmango (17th, 18:02), Tom Hill (18th, 18:07), and Frank Owens (19th, 18:08) formed another strong pack to help secure the win.

WAHSATCH RENDEZVOUS
The Titans ran very well at this large invitational. With nearly 20 schools competing, the girls finished 8th and the boys 7th.
Sharlie Dimick continued to run great finishing 2nd overall in 19:14 over the challenging 3.0 mile course. The girl who beat her is the defending 3A State champion. Lindsey McFarland (21:17), Daylyn Johnston (22:11), Mikelann Wilcox (22:54) and Cheyna Field (23:54) ran strong races. Because of injuries, we had to juggle the varsity lineup quite a bit. Erin Kirby and Dolly Johanson stepped up and ran very well to help the TEAM.
Jaxon Hansen showed he is ready to run with the top kids in the state. He finished 2nd in the #1 race and had the third fastest time of the day running 16:14. Brandon Yardley (16:59), Preston Williams (17:08), Dylan Rossmango (17:55), Tom Hill (17:58), Frank Owens (18:14) and Spencer Griffin (18:19) ran well to help the cause. Parker Williams ran his best race of the year and finished as our top JV runner finishing in 18:37.

ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
Selected as the Athletes of the Week were Cheyna Field, Frank Owens and Spencer Griffin.

We wish Coach Wilcox and Mrs. Dimick good luck at the St. George Marathon. I’m sure they’ll do a great job.

ALUMNI UPDATE
Jake Rossmango ran well at the Oklahoma State Invitational. With 175 runners competing, Jake placed 101st for TCU. Our “adopted” alum, Jared Ward, was BYU’s 4th runner and 28th overall out of 213 at the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota.

GOOD THOUGHT
“Champions do not become champions when they win the event, but in the hours, weeks, months and years they spend preparing for it. The victorious performance itself is merely the demonstration of their championship character”.
-- T. Alan Armstrong
